Important Information for Parents
Posted On: Friday, March 29, 2013
March 29, 2013
We wanted to inform you that a few students made some offhand remarks this morning about the threatening rumors you were informed about last week at Scott County Middle School. As a result, additional rumors circulated throughout the school today.
Because safety is our first priority, school administrators worked with law enforcement and district administrators to fully investigate. We were able to quickly track down the source of the remarks, have addressed the situation, and wanted to let you know that that at no time was anyone unsafe.
Because safety is of the highest priority for Scott County Schools, we thought it necessary to inform parents of this situation. We are thankful that students brought these concerns to the attention of teachers and administrators. We are appreciative of our partnership with Georgetown Police Department and their timely response to this situation to ensure our students’ safety.
It is important to us that all stakeholders receive accurate information. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 502-863-7202.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Sutton, Principal
Scott County Middle School
Important Announcement to Parents
Posted On: Thursday, March 21, 2013
We write to inform you of a situation that first came to our attention this afternoon, March 21, 2013. Today students at Scott County Middle School expressed concern about a conversation which occurred last week where a peer discussed bringing a weapon to school. Scott County Schools takes comments of this nature very seriously and have been in communication with local law enforcement officials who are investigating the situation.
Because safety is of the highest priority for Scott County Schools, we thought it necessary to inform parents of this situation. We are thankful that students brought these concerns to the attention of teachers and administrators. We encourage parents/guardians to talk to students about the importance of sharing information with adults. We also want to remind students to report any incidences involving student safety on or off campus to a school administrator immediately. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Principal Jennifer Sutton at 502-863-7202.
We are appreciative of our partnership with Georgetown Police Department and their timely response to this situation to ensure our students’ safety. We are especially proud of our students who felt they could share important information with school personnel allowing this quick response. It is important to us that all stakeholders receive accurate information.
