King Selected as Band Director

Lindsay King has been selected to serve as director of the Scott County High School Band.  King is currently the band director at Scott County Middle School and assistant director for the high school band.  She has served in her current role since 2002.  King takes the helm of the award-winning high school band program upon the retirement of director Greg Stepp.

Scott County High School Principal Joe Pat Covington is confident in King and her ability to continue the momentum of the successful program.  “Lindsay's 15 years of experience in our district and commitment to music education made her a great choice to lead our band.”

“The SCHS bands are an integral part of the rich traditions of Scott County High School,” King commented.  “I look forward to continuing this tradition while challenging students to develop as musicians and leaders.”

King continues a long-standing family tradition as well.  Her father, Tom Brawner, was band director at SCHS for 19 years.  Before coming to Scott County Schools, King worked with the band programs in both Calloway and Trigg counties.  She received a Master of Music Education degree from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Louisville.

Around 330 students are expected to participate in band at SCHS next year.  Parents and students, mark your calendars for band camp, July 31-August 4.
