The SCHS Cardinals clinched the 11th region championship to advance to the KHSAA Boys Sweet 16 state tournament. They will play their first game on Wednesday, March 14 at 1:30pm at Rupp Arena. To allow students, staff, families, and community members to attend the game and cheer on our hometown team, there will be no school in Scott County on Wednesday, March 14.
If the team wins on March 14, they will play at 12:00pm on Friday, March 16. If the team plays on March 16, we will cancel school again. We thought it important to communicate this possibility early to provide adequate planning time for families.
These days will not be Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) days. They do not meet the guidelines set forth by the Kentucky Department of Education for use as NTI days. In Scott County, we accumulate more instructional time than the minimum required by the state. As a result, the last day of school for students will still be Friday, May 25.
Advanced sale of tickets for the first round of the Boys Sweet 16 will be available at Scott County High School beginning at 10:00am on Monday, March 12. Tickets are $11. Student tickets on sale this Friday.
The Cardinals join the Lady Cards on the road to a state championship and our district is proud of such an outstanding accomplishment. We hope the community will rally behind both teams during this exciting time.
