Pickerill Named Principal of GMS

Shane Pickerill

Shane Pickerill has been named principal of Georgetown Middle School.  Pickerill is currently principal at Anne Mason Elementary School serving in this role since 2015.  Before leading Anne Mason, he was principal at Crofton Elementary School for five years and assistant principal at Millbrooke Elementary School for three years. 

“Shane Pickerill is an energetic leader who interacts well with staff and families,” stated Maurice Chappell, Assistant Superintendent for Student Learning. “His enthusiasm for students, teachers, and learning were evident in his interview.”  Chappell chaired the school’s site based decision making council through the principal selection process.

Pickerill earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Kentucky University and a Master of Arts degree in education administration and superintendent certification both from Murray State University.

“I want to thank Mr. Chappell and the Georgetown Middle School SBDM council for the opportunity to serve as their principal,” Pickerill stated.  “I look forward to working with staff, parents, and students as we will strive daily to provide the best educational experience for all GMS students.”   

Pickerill announced his plans to the staff at Anne Mason thanking them for the last four years of hard work and wishing them nothing but the best in the future.  He will officially begin his tenure at Georgetown Middle School on July 1, 2019.  The principal selection process will now begin to find the new leader of Anne Mason.
