Bicknell Named Assistant Superintendent

Ken Bicknell

Ken Bicknell has been selected as Assistant Superintendent of Student Learning for Scott County Schools.  Bicknell is currently the Superintendent of Paris Independent Schools and has been in this role since 2016.

“Ken Bicknell has proven himself to be an instructional leader with a broad awareness of the potential of both students and faculty,” stated Dr. Kevin Hub, Superintendent of Scott County Schools.  “He has the knowledge, skills, and experience we need to continue and extend the great work already being done by our student learning team.”

Previously Bicknell worked as an Education Recovery Leader at the Kentucky Department of Education providing leadership development and guidance to struggling districts.  In this role he mentored and trained new principals, assistant principals, and counselors and helped teachers analyze data and reflect on instructional and assessment practices that aligned to common standards.

Bicknell was principal at B. Michael Caudill Middle School in Madison County for seven years.  He was part of the opening of the school and built a strong instructional team that united educators from many schools and backgrounds.  During his tenure at the school, the students at Caudill performed in the top 15% in the state.

“I am excited, honored, and humbled for the opportunity to serve in the Scott County school district,” Bicknell stated.

Bicknell has a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Kentucky University where he also earned a Master of Arts in Counseling, a Master of Arts in Instructional Leadership, and Superintendent Certification.

He officially starts in his new position July 1, 2019, upon the retirement of Assistant Superintendent Maurice Chappell.  Bicknell looks forward to joining the student learning team in Scott County.

“We will all work together to build on the great opportunities already happening for the students of Scott County, and, at the same time, continue to grow ourselves as educators and provide what our students need for success,” Bicknell commented.

Ken and his wife Lisa Beth currently live in Paris.  Together the couple has four adult children, Logan Bicknell, Mckenzie Bicknell, Kaitlyn Carroll, and Amy Carroll.
