District high school teachers recently attended the Advanced Placement Summer Institute at Eastern Kentucky University.
Teachers in attendance from Scott County High School include Courtney Keller, AP Language; Amanda Cantrell, AP World History; Rebecca Adams, AP Literature; William Wilson, AP Art History; and Chelsea Thornhill, AP Chemistry.
The group of Scott County educators were among more than 230 teachers representing eight states as well as South Korea and Cambodia.
“We’re honored to welcome so many passionate educators to Eastern Kentucky University. EKU will continue to support K-12 education in our own region and beyond,” stated President Michael Benson.
The institute provides 30 hours of content-specific instruction for teachers of high level, challenging high school courses comprised of college-level material. AP classes can also provide college credit for high school students.
Each teacher had the opportunity to nominate an AP student for a scholarship to attend EKU.
