Reality Store is an interactive educational event designed for students to learn how their education, life choices, and finances are all interrelated and how it impacts their futures. The event is an opportunity for our students to experience the reality of having a job, monthly bills to pay (such as rent/utilities, childcare, groceries, student loans, clothing, car, etc. Being financially independent, having good vs. bad credit, etc.). Every student is provided a salary based on their current GPA, then they are given the opportunity to choose their career. They will go through the gym at SCMS and visit table representatives that are acting as if they are the real life entities. For example: there is a bank table, a grocery table, transportation, utilities, insurance, communications, etc. Reality Store is a joint project sponsored by the 4-H Extension Office and the Youth Service Centers at RSMS and SCMS.
